2-7-19…. Discipline…

Having discipline is not about will power.  Will power is finite.  In order to be really successful the key is to have discipline to set yourself up for success.  The way you do this is don’t put yourself in situations where you’ll fail.

For example, if you know that you’ll binge eat oreos whenever you’re stressed, then don’t have oreos in the house.  I know it sounds flippant but it’s reality.  If you have oreos in the house you’ll eat them.  Will power will only last you so long and then you’ll give in.  When I mention cutting out foods that negatively impact you, I always here, ‘but what about my kids?’ Here’s the thing, for ultimate health your kids probably shouldn’t eat it either so you’re setting them up for success too.

If alcohol is a downfall for you, don’t put yourself in a situation where you’ll feel the need to drink.

If lack of exercise is the issue for you or not going to the gym, make sure your gym clothes are in your car, or even sleep in your workout shoes. Whatever you need to do to be successful.

Have the discipline to set yourself up to win, and you’ll be much more successful.

Identify your triggers and then eliminate those triggers and that’s really how you reach your goals.
