3-10-16….Utilizing a Coach…

If you think back to whenever you’re most successful in life typically there’s a coach involved.

I mean really just think about it…

You’ve had coaches all your life.  When you were born, most likely, you had parents or guardians that coached you through child hood. When you went to school you had coaches/ teachers that taught you about reading, science, and math.  Then most of us went to some kind of post secondary education where we learned a trade or worked with as an apprentice to learn a trade or get an education.  Most likely whenever you wanted to learn a new skill you had a coach, teacher, or mentor there to teach you.

Whether it’s play basketball, play the piano, learn to speak Spanish, learn your job, you’ve probably had someone teach you what to do.

Well guess what ladies and gentleman the same holds true for your fitness and wellness.  Why do so many people think they can just watch a youtube video or read a book and be successful without learning from a mentor or a coach.  I mean we’re talking about higher level physiological processes that you’re trying to manipulate and the hope is you can learn it from a youtube video or an article on yahoo.

Of course if you’re reading this you probably understand some of what I’m talking about, but let’s take it one step further….

Let’s talk about the quality of the coach you have.  Does your coach have years of experience and education in their field, or are they someone who just sat through a weekend seminar?  Does your coach practice what he/she teaches on the daily?  Does your coach constantly strive to be better and more excellent.

Let’s take it even a step further then that…..

Coaching involves so much more then technical knowledge.  Coaching involves guiding a person from Point A to Point B and helping them achieve success there.  Can your coach reach you where are, meet you there, and then help guide you along your journey to achieve where you want to go?  That’s really what coaching is all about.

You see the more you learn and develop, the more you appreciate great coaching.  I’m an expert on nutrition and training, yet I still hire a nutrition coach to program my nutrition for me.

Why? Because I realize the value in having someone hold me accountable.  I realize the value in different perspectives.  I also realize the value in having someone coach and guide me to my results.

So my question to you is this….

What do you want to accomplish?  AND Have yo hired a coach to get you there?  AND If so, is your coach helping you be successful?

If you don’t have a coach, why not?
