In the military there is a saying and a code that they live by and that’s, ‘No man left behind.’
What do they mean by that? It means we never leave someone alone to struggle. We pull everyone along, carry them if we have to. We do everything we can to support each other.
This is a code that we strive to live by here at LivLimitless. One of the things that we strive for is a culture of celebration. When you get done with your workout before someone else, our expectation is not for you to immediately put your stuff away but rather, catch your breath, get a sip of water, and go cheer someone else on. It’s amazing what a little extra cheering and encouragement can do for someone’s performance. When you round the corner of the 400m run and there are 3-4 people standing there to cheer you on, you run a little harder. When you are struggling to get those last reps of a workout and someone is there cheering you, you push a little harder and get more done faster.
This is a KEY component of why people are so successful here.
On the other hand speaking from personal experience there’s nothing worse then busting your tail on the workout and everyone else is cleaning up their stuff and getting ready to leave while you’re still doing the workout. It becomes demoralizing.
I know, I know some of you have to get to work as soon as possible. I get that. Sometimes we run a little over etc, and if that’s the case and you must leave right on the nose of the hour that’s fine. Tell everyone have a good day and get out of here.
But if the class isn’t over yet, or you can hang out for 3 minutes, that little bit of encouragement and smile from you can make all the difference in the world to someone else’s well being. After all, we work out in a group for a reason, and that reason is support and encouragement- in other words ‘community’ is what we strive for.
Sometimes its easy to get away from this. We all have stressors, we all have things we have to do, but 2 minutes of your attention can change someone’s life for the better.
Remember, No Man/ woman left behind.
