3-7-19…You Never Know…

This morning my kids and I were talking about death. Not in a morbid way but in a way of how we should appreciate life.  In that conversation we talked about how you never know when the breath you breath in is your last.  Something I read once kind of stuck with me, at any given moment whatever you are doing someone somewhere has died while doing that same act.  It’s crazy to think about but it’s true.  We never really know when it’ll be our time to go.  We all think it won’t happen to us and most days we are right, but almost everyone that dies thought the same thing when they woke up that morning.

As our conversation continued we started talking about people’s struggles and how important it is to care for and about people.  Because, the future is so unknown and life is so fragile, it’s important love people, and be kind.  At that moment some words of wisdom came to me and I was able to impart them on my kids, but I also want to share them with you….

Be slow to anger, and quick to show grace.  I think these are fantastic words to live by, but also very difficult.

As we continued, I talked about how important it is to not hold grudges and say unkind things.  Then I told them the last conversation I had with my dad I cussed him out, told him I didn’t care if I ever talked to him again, and he had some very unkind words for me as well.  We never spoke again because just a few weeks later he was found dead at his house.  I never got the chance to apologize or show him grace.  I never really had a relationship with him my whole life to begin with.  What a waste.  I’ll always regret that moment of unkindness, so as you guys go about your day today, I hope that you can think about this post, and show some compassion towards others.  Also, hug your loved ones and tell them you love them.  Lastly, don’t hold grudges, forgive and move past because you never know if that will be the last time you ever talk to them.
