5-13-20…. Just Do It….

The keys to long term success is not motivation or inspiration, it’s discipline.  Having the discipline to do the hard things and stay committed to it even if/ and when it gets hard to do so, is what separates the people who get results and the people who wish they had results.

Everyday you have to make a choice, either get after it or not.  Whether it’s exercise, work, family, God, whatever you are prioritizing.  If you want sustainable success, have the discipline to do it anyway.

Right now, I am on a fitness mission.  I was out from my back injury, (nothing I did at the gym I might add), for almost 3 months.  It was 3 months that I couldn’t even walk, much less lift, run, or do anything besides sit in a sauna.  I let my nutrition go to crap, and my fitness, and my waistline,  suffered immensely.  (yes I struggle with all the things you guys struggle with. I am human).

So now, I’m on a mission to get it done.  I have a long term 6 month plan, and I’m not 5 weeks in.  Today was hard.  I needed to run for my plan.  Well no problem, I’ll run on the treadmill at the gym.  2.4 miles in, the treadmill stops working correctly.  (who the heck knows what’s wrong with it. It’s always something).  Anyway, I still needed to run 2.6 miles to complete my run, so I had a choice to make….

It was raining hard, and it’s ridiculously cold for May.  If you know me, you know I HATE to be in the rain, I also HATE cold weather, so this is basically my nightmare.  It would’ve been easy to throw my hands in the air and say, ‘well, I tried, that’s it for the day, treadmill was broken and it’s raining, oh well. ‘  BUT remember, I’m on a mission, instead I had to have the discipline to do the hard things.  I strapped on my big boy pants, and ran in the rain.  It was cold, it was wet, it was miserable, but it got done.  I’m not saying this to toot my own horn, but I’m merely using it as an example to say, I get it.  I struggle too.  Don’t let lack of motivation deter you.  Have the discipline to do it anyway.
