‘Think progress, not perfection.’
– Ryan Holiday, The Obstacle Is the Way
Too many times we get caught up in this idea of perfection. Many times perfection becomes paralyzing. We struggle so much with the idea that we can’t be perfect, that we don’t do anything at all.
It’s what keeps us from trying new things. It’s what keeps us on the couch. It’s what’s easy to default back to, the safe, the comfortable. We can’t be perfect, so why try?
We forget that when we learned to walk it took thousands of tries before we perfected it. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he invented the light bulb.
Your goal should always be progress. Progress towards your goals, and everything else will fall into play.
