I’ve written about this before, but I feel like it needs reiterating because I keep hearing the same thing over and over again…
I’m not where i used to be.
I’m not ready to do a baseline because I need to get back in shape.
I’m scared to come in because I have to start all the way over.
I’m so out of shape.
I’ve lost my motivation.
I can’t because x, y, z.
Hey…..
I get it. I really do. But here’s the deal…
WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT. We just had a global pandemic. GLOBAL. Literally the entire world has hit reset on many things. It doesn’t mean you’re a failure. It doesn’t mean you can’t restart. It just means you are normal.
Disclaimer: I’m not writing this to make you feel bad about yourself. I’m writing this to coach you through possibilities and reality.
So the way I see it you have two options:
Option 1:
Sit around and talk about the good old days, of how fit you were before, how you let yourself go, how it’ll be so hard to get started again. Etc.
This accomplishes one thing. Making you feel like crap. It makes you feel crappy emotionally because you feel like a loser and a failure, and you talk to yourself like you are. It also makes you feel like crap physically, because the less you move, exercise and eat right, the worse you’re going to feel.
Think about this, if you change nothing about what you’re doing right now, this at this very instant is literally the best you will ever feel. The less you move the worse it gets. So, in essence, you’ve topped out, you’ve peaked.
It’ll ONLY get worse from here IF you don’t change what you are doing.
Option 2:
Accept what is and start going again. You won’t get better if you don’t try, and not trying is a losing battle on all fronts. Show up, be consistent, do your best, keep on keepin’ on and that will get you improving. It comes back quickly. The more you move the better ALL aspects of your life get. The only downside is that it’s tough to get going again. The easy part about it is to get going all you have to do is show up. Once you do that a few times, you’re in.
So there’s really only two options. Which one will you choose?
I’m here for you.
