I want to take a second and talk about something I’ve noticed on the floor lately.
First I want to say, I love, love, love that we continually educate our clients, and I love that many of you here are excited, engaged, and understand the movements well.
That being said, our coaches not only go through a certification, but 6 months of extensive training in order to coach you. I want to caution you, if you haven’t been through our training, you’re not qualified to coach others in the classes.
There’s a huge difference between encouraging and cheering a fellow member on (what we want), and teaching a member to progress through a snatch or clean. No doubt, you are trying to be helpful but our coaches are on the floor to coach you. The community is there to support and encourage.
Keep this in mind, I may see one thing I’m trying to fix, back rounding for example, and at that point I may not care if they pull early. I’ve got a plan for that athlete, and I know what I want them to accomplish in that training session. It’s very overwhelming and unproductive to work on more than one thing at a time. Our coaches know this, they have a plan. In reality, if you haven’t been through the training required, you could actually be stagnating them, or worse, you could be coaching it wrong, undermining what our coaches are trying to accomplish, or could even lead to someone getting injured.
Also, as a student, I want to encourage you, if you are struggling with something come to one of the coaches on the floor, not a fellow student. Our coaches are trained, they want to help, and are experts in accomplishing that.
We want a community of encouragement and cheering always, just be careful you’re not cueing movements, that’s the job of our coaches.
