8-17-16… Technique, Consistency, Intensity….

In order to be successful here you need to follow several principles.

The first is technique

It is critical that you focus on technique.  If you don’t focus on technique your chances of injury increase greatly.  Also, you won’t be able to see results as quickly due to the inability to move correctly.  When focusing on technique it requires some patience sometimes.  Many times we need to work on basic movement patterns and hold back on the weights.  This can be frustrating because it’s not fun to work on your squat, but it is necessary to work on the basics.

Any athlete in any sport especially on the professional level, constantly practices technique and basic movements because they are critically important for success.

The Second of which is consistency.

Without consistency nothing else matters.  If you are not consistently showing up and participating in the workouts you will not reach your goals.  You’ll be hindered by struggles with form.  You’ll not see the adaptation from a consistent training program.

But if you are consistent several things will happen.

1) You’ll see body adaptation due to the repeated efforts and exposures.

2) You’ll see form improve.  The things we do require practice to get better, so by repeated exposures you’ll naturally become more educated in the movement, and the form will get better.

3) When your form gets better your movement becomes more efficient, and when that happens you’re able to push harder, and increase your weights.  When those things happen your intensity will naturally increase.

Once the first two are mastered the last thing to focus on is intensity.

When technique is acceptable and you are being consistent in your training, then intensity will follow.  You’ll move better, which will allow for you to add weight.  You’ll be more consistent which will allow you to handle more stress.  Then you get to push it, and when you reach this stage your results will come exponentially faster.

It’s of the utmost importance that you follow this order of events.  If you deviate, it can not only lead to stagnated results, but even worse; injury.

Here at CFB we strive hard to keep people within these guidelines, so trust your coach and always ask for advice, and we’ll make sure you’re progressing correctly.
