I’m my own worst critic. I’m sure you are as well. I want to take a second and talk about self talk. How do you talk to yourself? Do you give yourself credit? Do you love yourself?
OR
Do you cuss yourself out? Do you tell yourself how stupid you are? Do you look at yourself with disgust? It’s an insidious thing and it continually derails you and sets you up for disappointment and failure if you talk negatively to yourself.
I heard on a podcast the other day a really great viewpoint. She said that if you were to write your self talk out on the wall would you be proud of what you wrote? Would you show your grandma and be happy about it, or would you be embarrassed? Would you talk to your best friend like that? If the answer isn’t yes, then you aren’t being kind to yourself. Every day we have the opportunity to bring ourselves up or tear ourselves down. The best practice is to bring yourself up.
Here’s a suggestion for you….
Put a rubber band on your wrist. Every time you say something negative to yourself about yourself pop yourself with the rubber band and then switch hands. See how many times you do this in a day and then try it for a week. I guarantee if you do this, you’ll better yourself, and do a better job of loving yourself well.
