8-9-18… You Are Not Invincible…

My dad was diagnosed Type 2 diabetic.  It’s sad really because it’s completely preventable and most times reversible through good nutrition and exercise.  He thought he was invincible.  He talked on Facebook about how his blood sugar was almost 500 when we went into the hospital feeling bad.  He got prescriptions to help his blood sugar but he never filled them.  I tried to talk to him about his diet but he didn’t follow it.  Type 2 diabetes is so prevalent that the medical community for the most part does an appalling job of explaining the seriousness of the condition.  If you don’t take care of the issue, IT CAN KILL YOU.

My grandfather was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, they gave him a glucometer and a prescription with no guidance on what to do.  No discussion on what his sugar should be.  No discussion about changing diet, except for telling him that it’s perfectly fine to eat one dessert a day.  No discussion of exercise just that he should probably do some.  No discussion on the seriousness of the issue.  I’m certain this type of medical care happens 100’s of thousands of times a day all over the United States.  It’s an epidemic that nobody is talking about and nobody cares to give proper guidance.  29 million people in the US have diabetes and 86 million adults are pre diabetic.  If this is you, this is a serious problem.  Fortunately, it is fairly common place to control blood sugar with diet and exercise and also fairly common to reverse the issue.  Especially if you are in the pre diabetic state.  It’s so common place that it is looked at as not a big deal, but it is a big deal.  You’re not invincible.  If left untreated you can die.  My dad found out the hard way.  We can help with this issue.  Let us help you.
