I spoke about it leading up to the CrossFit Open, and now it’s showing its face in the gym.
Competition, many times brings out the absolute best in people. When something is on the line, people just go for it, and that’s what we saw last week with the open workouts.
In fact, one of the basic premises behind CrossFit is the idea of competition. Greg Glassman, the founder of CrossFit, once said, ‘If you want to see someone run their best mile, put someone next to them.’ It’s true, workout next to someone else and you’ll accomplish more.
Last week, I saw a couple of our people hit a personal record on their clean and jerk after a workout because it was in the spirit of competition. That’s truly something special to watch.
So the point of the post is this: although it’s too late to join the open competition, find something to compete for. In the workouts find someone to compete against. It’ll be much more fun, and you’ll accomplish much more that way.
Above all, have fun! It’s what it’s all about!
PS: The live announcement of 15.2 Open workout will be tonight at 7PM if you want to hang out at the gym and watch it with us!
