Awesomeness Has a Half Life CrossFit in Memphis

Half-life (t?) is the time required for a quantity to fall to half its value as measured at the beginning of the time period. In physics, it is typically used to describe a property of radioactive decay, but may be used to describe any quantity which follows an exponential decay.

Awesomeness falls into this category.  Whenever you start something it is usually awesome and exciting.  Relationships, marriage, kids, buying a car, buying a house, joining a gym or fitness program, the list goes on and on.  Eventually though the awesomeness or at least the newness wears out and you are left with two options.  Option one…..quit.  This is what most people do, they quit or give up, or look for something new to be awesome (divorce anyone, how about a lease on a vehicle?)  Option two… figure out what made it awesome to you in the first place and work on accepting and keeping it awesome.

Here’s the thing, that thing that was awesome to begin with is probably still awesome, you just have gotten used to it.  When you are around something that is exceptional all the time, the exceptional becomes ordinary or un-noticed.  Sometimes you have to step back and take inventory of what made it awesome to begin with.  If you can figure that out and if it’s still there, then it’s still awesome!

Has this ever happened in your life?  What did you do to change your perspective?  or did you just quit?
