Embracing the Suck….

When you are training and you start to feel uncomfortable what do you do?  Do you slow down or back off?  Stop pushing or rest?  OR Do you acknowledge it and keep going?

Training is funny.  It’s not always true but for alot of the time in order to really get the results that you want, you have to push past the suck.  Your brain will tell you to stop.  It’ll tell you that you’re doing too much.  It’ll tell you that you should drop the bar, or drop the weight, or sit down, or get some water, or whatever it is you think you need to do other then to keep going.

The real results come when you realize that it’s supposed to feel like that.  Of course we mean safely here, but that’s a different discussion.  It’s supposed to be tough.  If it were easy everyone would have a six pack and all of us at CFB would be doing something else for a living.  The truth is that training is difficult and the moment that you realize that your mind will always quit before your body needs to, you’ll see more results.

The next time you are training and your brain starts telling you to stop acknowledge the feeling and then tell your brain,  ‘No thanks, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.’  Then you can truly embrace that feeling.  Learn to embrace the suck and you’ll be better off in CrossFit and life.
