Meet Jacob! 2-21-13

I just wanted to take a second and talk about Jacob aka Jake.  We recently hired him to be a full time part of the staff here at CFB.  We are extremely excited to have him, and we are looking forward to years of awesomeness to come!  Without further adieu, ladies and gentlemen, meet Jacob Clough:

Jake Clough
C.S.C.S, CrossFit
Level 1,  USATF (Track
& Field) Level 1 Coach

Having been involved with sports throughout my life I have
always had an appreciation for exercise and fitness. After 4 years of competing
in collegiate track & field I found myself missing out on the competitive
nature of being on a team. I ran a few marathons thinking that would fill the
void, but found that I just didn?t enjoy them: they took too much investment in
terms of training time, wear and tear on the body, and the training just wasn?t
very stimulating. Anyway, after college I began my career as a certified
strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and worked as a personal trainer.
Soon after that I found CrossFit. I became CrossFit certified in early 2010 and
it was like a light bulb going off. I had not only found an outlet for me to
compete, but I also found a brilliant new philosophy to apply to my clientele.
I have not looked back since.

I have worked in many different settings with many different
people over the last 6 years. I have experience with various populations and
medical conditions such as: arthritis, diabetes, obesity, ADHD, Aspergers,
fibromyalgia, cystic fibrosis, CHD recovery, peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy,
pre/during/post pregnancy, various rehabs, etc. I also have worked with many
athletes over the years. I have coached both track & field and football at
the high school level and am confident that I can get any willing athlete to
reach their potential. I truly love what I do and wouldn?t have it any other
way.

I have a true passion for talking about health, nutrition,
and fitness with anyone, but I really enjoy it when it?s with someone who
genuinely wants to make positive changes in their life. At this point in my
career I?m happy to have touched the lives that I have, but am really looking
forward to spreading my passion to anyone willing to listen.

My philosophy on health and fitness is too robust to share
in a few words, but the elevator version would go something like this: treat
your body like it?s the only one you?re ever going to get ? garbage in equals
garbage out. Fortunately, we have the opportunity every day to shape and mold
our body into what we want ? this is easier for some than others, but we all
ARE capable of transformation!
