The Warm Up
Now that you have made up your mind to come to the gym to workout, you may not realize it but another mental hurdle has come your way: the warm up.
The warm up is easily the most neglected component of a person?s time spent in the gym. However, the warm up serves a very important purpose. It increases your body temperature and heart rate while providing stretching and movements that stimulate the entire body and major biomechanical functions. Additionally, the warm up gets your mind ready for your lift and workout. Taking the warm up seriously is a fundamental part of your success in a lift and metcon.
When warming up, keep in mind the mechanics of the movements. Practice traveling through the full ranges of motion of the given WOD movements. Ask a coach to critique your illustration and suggest an appropriate weight or scale. Visualize performing the movements in the lift and metcon. I encourage you to take full advantage of the warm by properly preparing your mind and body for the WOD.
